How we evaluate contractor equipment
For a service business, the lowest purchase price is rarely the only cost that matters. We look at whether a tool matches the expected duty cycle, how easy replacement batteries or accessories are to source, whether downtime could cancel a booked job, and whether the product fits naturally into a mobile technician's workflow. A tool that is perfectly reasonable for occasional maintenance can still be the wrong choice for daily production use.
These guides therefore separate fit from hype. We use manufacturer specifications and current product catalogs as primary sources, identify realistic service-business use cases, and call out situations where a professional trade-focused system or deeper battery ecosystem is likely to be the better investment.
